It’s primarily a way for us to get thoughts and photos up as soon as possible, especially when we have no plan to write a feature-length column on the subject. Here, Gary visits Fried Dumpling shorty after they reopen for business after a lengthy absence.
The many number of folks who enjoy eating cheap and plentiful fried dumplings, myself included, were saddened when Fried Dumpling closed in spring 2009 due to a dispute with their landlord. Yes, we still had Vanessa’s and Prosperity for our cheap dumpling fix but this was the most northeast location of the three and, thus, closest to the music venues on the Lower East Side. So you can imagine how happy I was to hear on Monday that they had reopened in their exact same spot with the same cheap prices – 4 dumplings for $1. After my intern work for the day was done, I decided it’d be a good time to give the place a return visit. After all, we’re talking about a meal for under $5 here – that’s music to this broke fella’s ears.
