Snap(shot) Judgements are posts that will appear with no real regularity. It’s primarily a way for us to get thoughts and photos up as soon as possible, especially when we have no plan to write a feature-length column on the subject. Here, Gary indulges in some bacon-y treats at the Upper West Side Shake Shack.
Earlier in the week, I heard the rumblings on the blogosphere about a one-day only special burger at Shake Shack that had peanut butter and bacon on it. Peanut butter and bacon on a burger? Sounds weird but intriguing as well. I read a review of it on NYU News but I hardly thought any more of it as it was a one-time dealie. I don’t know why I thought that would actually hold out to be the case as it was quickly reported that it would be back on the menu this past Saturday – again it would be a “one-time” thing with the possibility that it could be find a permanent place on the menu. Considering the number of this special creation sold – 42 the first time, over 300 by 7:45 pm the second – a permanent addition would make sense. Alas, that does not appear to be the case (source: Westside Independent, scroll to fourth paragraph).

Yeah, I was looking into the kitchen to see if they were assembling the PB Shake’N Bacon Burger.

Bacon in my burger and bacon in my custard – an awesome pairing!
Shake Shack PB Shake’N Bacon Burger
The original burger topped with crispy cajun bacon and gooey peanut butter. No Shack Sauce needed here as the peanut butter was all the fat one would need. It’s greasy but all the elements work together.
Shake Shack Pancakes & Bacon Custard
This is my third time this month having this special flavor but the first I’ve had it with bits of bacon sprinkled on top.

Not feeling quite decadent enough, I decided to add a spoonful of custard to the burger. It was heavenly.
