Shake Shack Custard Conquest – April 2010

Snap(shot) Judgements are posts that will appear with no real regularity. It’s primarily a way for us to get thoughts and photos up as soon as possible, especially when we have no plan to write a feature-length column on the subject. Here, Gary shows off some photos from eating through the April 2010 selection of special flavors of frozen custard at Shake Shack.

Once the calendar flipped over from March to April, I found myself on the B line at the Shake Shack in Madison Square Park, ready to begin another month of new custard flavors. And, like March, I did them all in one seven-day span for you, the readers. Okay, I just really wanted to eat custard every day that week – after all, it was a warm summer-like start to spring and nothing says summer like frozen custard.

Milk & Honey

A really nice honey flavor in this one.



Fluffernutter

I tasted the peanut butter for sure but if there was supposed to be marshmallowy flavor, I missed it.



Pancakes & Bacon

This may replace Coffee & Donuts as my favorite. You get the smokiness from the bacon and bacon chunks but not the actual porkiness itself.



Carrot Cake

Carrot cake cream cheese frosting is more like it.



Shack-uccino

A lot more subtlety on the coffee flavor in this one as opposed to Coffee & Donuts. It could have been bolder, to be honest.



Gianduja

Chocolate with a nice hazelnut flavor – terrific stuff.



Strawberry Blonde

I loved this one – so much creamy, smooth strawberry flavor.
